01 / Overview

Purra

A smart pillow designed to replace the bedtime app stack.

02 / Context

Purra pairs a smart pillow with a companion app for sleep tracking, personalised bedtime rituals and product insight.

The work spans the physical object, the brand website and the mobile companion experience — plus a software-only variant (Purely) that brings the same rituals to phones without hardware.

03 / Design narrative

01 / 03

01

Problem

Bedtime rituals and sleep tracking are split across separate apps and the physical sleep environment.

02

Concept

Connect a smart pillow with a companion app for sleep tracking and personalised bedtime rituals, with a software-only Purely variant.

03

Outcome

The project includes a smart-pillow product presentation, a brand website and a mobile companion prototype.

04 / Process

01InsightDesign concept

Most sleep apps make the night louder.

Doomscrolling, switching between apps and abrupt alarms create three distinct moments of friction.

Purra responds with one continuous ritual instead of another isolated sleep feature.

02Product modelDesign concept

Sense. Compose. Drift. Wake.

Signals describe the present moment; AI composes sound, timing and environment; tactile guidance supports the transition into rest; the morning returns only the context needed for the day.

03Hardware interactionDesign concept

Control without opening a screen.

Single tap, double tap, hold and LED feedback reduce decisions at bedtime.

The physical stack combines a washable cover, adaptive foam, airflow layer, support core, sensors, haptics and battery.

04Industrial designDesign concept

The pillow is the primary interface.

Material, contour and internal isolation are designed around quiet operation and neutral spinal support.

Dimensions and component studies define the product’s design specifications.

05Interface systemDesign concept

One visual language from setup to sleep report.

A restrained dark system links onboarding, content discovery, playback, profile and sleep reporting.

Shared tokens and components keep the physical and digital experience emotionally consistent.

06System logicDesign concept

One night, six quiet acts.

Pair, settle, drift, deepen, dawn and wake form a closed choreography across pillow, app and cloud.

Telemetry and adaptive content are presented as a proposed system architecture.

07Product strategyStrategy projection

From object to a sustainable service system.

Pricing, membership, accessories and a phased roadmap test how the product could grow beyond hardware.

The financial figures and future releases are projections, not realised performance.
